I don't see it on my old message board, so it may not be possible, but I was wondering if you were aware of weighed posts being used on some message boards. (This means that if you post one word as a reply your post count goes up like 0.1, but if you post a HUGE post, your post count could go up like 3. It is all based on a content average of some sort.) The reason why I ask, is because the Nine Inch Nails message board I post at, Echoing The Sound does it, and I have to admit, I like it a lot. I suppose it shouldn't really matter, since post count isn't supposed to be an indicator of status (but rather, activity,) it just seems like weighted posts seem more accurate in terms of statistics. If you go on to echoing the sound, and click on someone's name, you will see their "literal posts" and then their "adjusted posts," and their "content average." Then you will know what I mean

I am not able to do that on ProBoards, to my knowledge anyway. I would have to be able to have direct access to the database. Well, considering that I recently found out that the 50 gigs of storage I have available on the infraxes server ALSO is an application server, and that I'm working on creating a new message board that I will have to convert each and every message that's on here over to it by hand when I'm ready to do it (the dates of the posts will not be right, but they WILL be in the right order--this is going to be months and months away) since ProBoards doesn't allow direct access to the database. It will be a phpBB message board, and I'll be able to do literally anything I want to it I may even be able to, after I do enough research, be able to have a flash element set up (and a database for that element) so that there will be a play button below everyone's avatar in messages If they've recorded a webcam video in their response, that video response will show up where their avatar is, since most of the time, a webcam response will be showing someone's face anyway. If they don't have a webcam but they can record audio, then their avatar will remain the same when you hit play but the audio will play. If they don't want to record audio and just have text, then no play button will appear below their avatar. When you're making a message, a little red record button will also be available that lets you record either the webcam or just the mic. This is a far off idea that will probably take at least a year to implement, but I think I will be the first to implement this in this manner. Maybe someone will read this and steal it from me--oh well, I just would love to see this interface happen in general. I love the idea of being able to express what you're FEELING in a message--and the fact that you can plan out not only WHAT you're going to say and how it is worded, but HOW you say it. That's not something you can do in a chatroom--that's all live and you're stuck doing things on the fly. That's not something you can normally do on a message board either--it's all text and little smileys. I'm excited about the potential of what I should hopefully have coming--it may not be soon, but it's coming.
