At first I was just pushing that I think the Academy Award ceremonies should be cut to 1/4 of what they are now--cut the fat from the whole thing, and there's always a whole lot of it. But then I realized--the awards themselves are kind-of weird.
There's almost no way of telling what exactly people are winning these awards for. There are SO many movies and TV series that will be known as long as there is still media of some form, that didn't get diddly squat for awards or even a 5th runner up.
At one point I think it's about the money, but then sometimes people get awards for things that don't really make any sense.
So--what the hell REALLY is the point of the Oscars?
A big expensive fashion show like how so many women want big expensive weddings? It seems that way to me.
At least the ceremony would be handleable if it was just 15 minutes to a half an hour. Then all those that want to watch the Joan Rivers' critique of fashion can watch that for a couple hours still (does she still do that? Is she still alive?)
