Has anyone seen this show? I can't believe how closed-minded I can be about stuff that I never gave a chance sometimes. I spent YEARS thinking this had to be the stupidest show on television, just on general principle. However, my brother got the whole series on DVD, I checked it out, and I'm hooked. I'm on season 5 right now. Amazingly original, and creatively written, this show is phenomenal. It probably helps that I don't have to watch commercials, don't have to wait a week for the next episode, and can do it on my time (as I've found out with all DVDs of TV shows), but this show is not what it seems like it would be. Joss Whedon is a creative guy, that's for sure.

Isn't that the same guy who did FireFly and Serenity? Joss Whedon. I've never given that show a chance. It's particularly harder to get into that show because my ultra-pagan ex was addicted to it like he was Charmed, and I guess I got so sick of thinking of the phrase "I will vanquish you" that neither of those shows are something I've been able to even look at, which is a shame--maybe in a couple years I'll be able to watch it, because FireFly to me was one of the best shows to ever be on TV. I am curious about Joss Whedon's latest project, called "Goners" and is supposed to be released in 2009. Here's a synopsis--it claims it has spoilers, so don't read if you're concerned about that: From this site: imdb.com/title/tt0481738/synopsis

Yeah, same guy. I never gave it a chance either. But in 5 seasons I've never heard "I will vanquish you", so that may be the ex influence making it worse. I guess Firefly was supposed to be REALLY GOOD, but FOX ran it all wrong or something.

Fox left out the pilot episode, and showed a few of them out of order. It's truly one of the best sci fi shows ever made. I'd venture to say it is the BEST sci fi tv show ever made.

I remember a little of Firefly. Can it be purchase on DVD? I did not ever know what happened to the series. It would be a good thing to keep me busy for a while.

Yes, the whole thing can be purchased on DVD, and you can see the episode they blocked too. Then watch Serenity afterwards.

Yeah, it's my brother's, and he's pretty hardcore about his discs. I used to have to talk him into letting ME borrow them. I'm trying to get Goodfellas back from someone I loaned it to though. I really want you to see that. And American History X. I have that now if you want to borrow it. I think that once you see that, you'll be on this forum starting some interesting new topics.

I am a pretty big buffy fan. I liked it. It's not for everyone though. Willow (a character) was always my favourite. Even before she became a huge super lesbian.
She was always pretty hot.

I think Willow is pretty cool too. I keep thinking that they'll develop her into an even more powerful character. It seems like maybe she has the potential to be one of those "Uber powerful" characters that maybe doesn't know her own depths. I'm on season 5, so try not to spoil anything for me if it hasn't happened by then.
