Will jazz make a comeback? I hope so, but since the late 80's, it has left the scene. We've had the Norah Jones', and some artists that never get radio play, but that's the whole issue--jazz isn't getting any popular radio play. Sure, there are artists that have hints of blues-jazz, which to me doesn't count at all.
Music has gotten so dumbed down over the past 20 years. It's really quite sad. The grunge era was the death of music innovation. It doesn't mean it can't be reborn.
The biggest problem has been the fact that the music industry is GENERALLY only looking for artists that have a sound that has been popular, and artists are afraid to make anything that doesn't sound like something that would sell, and it's been a downward spiral ever since.
Music genres are so cliche now that the radio just flat-out isn't worth listening to right now. To me, the biggest thing that has changed this is that JAZZ HAS LEFT THE SCENE.
I really hope to bring back some of this. My doubletapping guitar methods will hopefully pay off soon and I'll have some new recordings as well as some full new sets to play live. I'm really excited about it (but nothing can happen until my current situation changes).
